Aesthetically speaking, Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 flaunt the exact same design! Both come encased within a curved box along the dimensions 12.2” x 11.2” x 4.8”. Albeit, the overall weight of the projectors varies a bit.
Epson Home Cinema 2150 is heavier of the two, weighing at around 7.7 lbs, while the Epson 2100 weighs around 7.5 lbs. The primary difference in weight is established by the presence of a 3D video rendering capability of the Epson Home Cinema 2150.
However, on the looks-front both look exactly the same. Whereby, it would be hard to distinguish between them both. The only physical difference is that Epson 2150 has a gold-colored ring around the lens.
Both projectors are made up of the same materials. Therefore, you can feel the same sturdiness in their design. Moreover, they both come in a singular shade of white with a grey hint around some elements.
This makes the projectors look quite elegant. Although having white as the primary color, makes them both susceptible to be stained by dust and dirt! That being said, the housing is impressive and seems strong enough to handle a few jerks.
The same design attributes allow the projectors to be used for front, rear, and ceiling-mounted projections.
Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 both use Epson’s famed 3LCD and three-chip technology. Thus, both are able to project visuals at 2,500 lumens brightness in Normal mode.
However, our favorite budget projector Viewsonic PA503W offers 3,600 lumens; though at half the price.
They even boast the reliable 200W UHE lamp for their light source. That being said, Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 are new generation projectors. Moreover, similar priced projectors like Epson Home Cinema 1040 and Epson Home Cinema 1060 use the same lamp and display technology.
And, this is primarily distinguished by their well-designed lens mounts. These mounts utilize their respective lenses to the optimum possibility. Thus, producing crispier and clearer images compared to their predecessors.
As far as the picture quality of the projectors is concerned, it is tough to tell the difference at first. This mostly happens because each projector is capable of projecting Full HD quality images at 1080 pixels.
That being said, Epson Home Cinema 2150 comes with a default dynamic contrast ratio of 60,000:1. This is almost twice as Epson 2100’s 35,000:1 contrast ratio. This gives Epson Home Cinema 2150 a clear edge over the 2100’s performance.
Each model can emit extreme heat while projecting. That’s why their bodies consist of multiple grills.
Most of these are used as points of exhaustion for the integrated fan that cools the respective machines.
Some of the grills are even engraved for producing audio from the in-built 10W speaker mono speaker, which is quite loud, to be honest. If not for the annoying fan noise at 27 – 37 dB, we would have loved the speaker.
Being loud, the inbuilt mono speaker won’t offer a full range audio experience. Hence, its recommended to get a dedicated speaker set or a compact speaker like Anker Soundcore 2 to improve audio experience.
Built Quality & Performance
As mentioned earlier, both Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 come encased in the same casket design. Each of them also comes along with remote control, power cord, and a set of two AA batteries.
All connectivity ports for both projectors are located at the back. The back panel consists of two separate HDMI ports. One of them is even compatible with MHL devices.
You can also locate a stereo mini Audio out port underneath the VGA D-sub 15 pin. The latter can be used to connect the projectors with older PCs and laptops. They even host a 1Amp USB Type-A port that can be used as power, slideshow, and firmware port.
Lastly, the projectors offer a mini USB port for service purposes. This concludes the physical connectivity options for Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150.
The prime difference in connectivity for the projectors lies within their capacity to connect wirelessly. Frankly speaking, Epson Home Cinema 2100 is totally incapable of this feat!
On the other hand, the Epson 2150 comes with an integrated Wi-Fi. It even boasts the Miracast feature that allows it to tap directly into your home’s Wi-Fi network and replicate your computer screen. This feature can come in real handy while conducting business or educational presentations!

In fact, one of the most notable differences between the two is their default aspect ratios! Epson Home Cinema 2100 projects images and videos with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and aspect ratio of 16:9.
Simultaneously, Epson Home Cinema 2150 offers 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution by default with an aspect ratio of 16:10. However, both the projectors support 4:3 aspect ratio as well for presentation purposes.
Each of the projectors come with three adjustable feet alignment alteration. In addition to this, the projectors even allow Keystone Corrections.

When it comes to lamp life, both projectors offer 4,500 hours of usage on Normal mode. Whereas, the Eco mode drastically improves the lamp life to 7,500 hours. Moreover, the Eco mode also helps in reducing heat and fan noise by a considerable extent.

We were thoroughly impressed by Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150’s lens shift technology. They can typically offer an effective lens shift of 60%. Simply speaking, this allows you to get a bigger or smaller picture frame without actually moving the projector.
You may, therefore, retain the alignment adjustment settings of the projectors! This is truly extraordinary for projectors in their class.
Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 also boast a feature called the Creative Frame Interpolation. This allows them to add additional frames to the projections, thus ensuring a smooth transition! We recommend this setting while streaming live sports.
It enhances the critical replay or highlight moments, thus allowing to determine finer details! That being said, we’d suggest you switch this feature off while streaming movies.
Both projectors support USB mountings, thus, allowing you to stream directly through a flash drive. Furthermore, the built-in media player allows the projectors to cast your media easily. Albeit, you must ensure that your USB stick or flash drive has been formatted to either FAT16 or FAT32 setting!
You may even control your presentations using the navigation keys engraved on the projector or the remote! This does require some minute alterations to be made to your presentations.
