First Impression & Design
Aesthetically speaking, Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 have a similar design. Both projectors have the same casing within a curved box with 12.2” x 11.2” x 4.8” dimensions. Although, the overall weight of the projectors varies a bit.
Epson Home Cinema 2150 is the heavier of the two, weighing around 7.7 lbs, while the Epson 2100 weighs 7.5 lbs. The primary difference in weight is due to the 3D video rendering capability offered within Epson Home Cinema 2150.
In this Epson 2100 vs 2150 comparison, both projectors’ front look is similar. Hence, you can easily pass off the Epson 2100 for the Epson 2150. The only physical difference between them is that the Epson Home Cinema 2150 has a gold-colored ring around the lens.

Both projectors have a similar build quality. No matter which projector you choose, you’ll get a sturdy and long-lasting projector for your money. However, the design looks boring and nothing that you can show off among your friends.
The white color makes them susceptible to being stained by dust and dirt. Moreover, be prepared for the white-colored casing to get yellow with time.
Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 both use Epson’s patented 3LCD projection technology. 3LCD technology offers vibrant image quality compared to a single LCD or DLP chip used in most projectors.
If budget is your main concern. In that case, you can find Epson’s 3LCD technology in cheaper projectors like Epson Home Cinema 1040 and Home Cinema 1060.
There are multiple exhaust vents in both projectors for easier heat dissipation. Expect both projectors to get warmer with over an hour of usage.
Built Quality & Performance
As mentioned above, it’s hard to doubt the build quality of Epson projectors. Similar to Epson’s popular business projectors, the Home Cinema series also has superb build quality.
In terms of connectivity options, you get plenty of options within both projectors. Both projectors offer have 2x HDMI ports, a VGA port, a USB port, and a headphone jack. One of the HDMI ports also supports MHL connectivity for easy mirroring with your smartphone and tablet.
Unfortunately, the Epson Home Cinema 2100 doesn’t have wireless connectivity, which can be a point of concern for most buyers.
On the other hand, the Epson Home Cinema 2150 comes with Wi-Fi. It supports the Miracast feature. Thus, you can connect the Epson 2150 and your smartphone/tablet/laptop to the same Wi-Fi network and easily mirror their screen on the projector.
Both projectors have the same native resolution of 1920 x 1080p. It is ideal for watching modern movies and TV shows without any issues. On top of that, both projectors support 4:3 and 16:10 aspect ratios for the occasional business or educational use.
Unlike other projectors at this price point, the Epson 2100 and 2150 offer physical lens shift feature. It’s an important feature to vertically align your projection and get the right display.
Lastly, Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150, are both capable of projecting images with the size of 30” – 300”. They can do so from a distance of 2.86ft – 29.2 ft. This is pretty standard for projectors in their class.
Both projectors use a 200W UHE lamp that offer 4,500 hours of lamp life on Normal mode. In the Eco mode, the lamp life drastically improves to 7,500 hours. The Eco mode also reduces heat and fan noise by a considerable extent.
That being said, Epson Home Cinema 2150 comes with a default dynamic contrast ratio of 60,000:1. It’s almost twice the Epson 2100’s 35,000:1 contrast ratio. This gives Epson Home Cinema 2150 a clear edge over the 2100’s performance.
Both projectors come with a 10W mono speaker at the back. The speaker is loud enough for casual usage, yet not recommended while watching movies or TV shows.
Being loud, the speaker fails to offer a full-range audio experience. Hence, it’s recommended to get a dedicated speaker set or a compact speaker like Anker Soundcore 2 to improve the overall audio experience.

Creative Frame Interpolation
Epson Home Cinema 2100 and 2150 also boast a feature known as Creative Frame Interpolation. This feature adds additional frames to the projection, ensuring a smooth transition. It’s a useful feature during live sports and reduces jitteriness
This feature helps you determine finer details while watching fast-paced sports. However, I recommend disabling this feature while movies or TV shows.
Wide Format Support
Epson Home Cinema 2100 is compatible with all video formats, including WXGA 60 Hz, WXGA, SXGA, XGA, SVGA, VGA across 2D. It is even compatible with the 3D format across 720p 50/60 Hz, and 1080i 50/60 Hz.
Epson Home Cinema 2150, on the other hand, provides a bit more versatility. It is compatible with all video formats across the 2D domain including, WXGA 60Hz, WXGA, SXGA, XGA, SVGA, and VGA. For the 3D domain, it allows videos in 720p 50/60Hz, 1080i 50/60Hz, and 1080p50/60/24Hz!

If budget isn’t an issue, then in the Epson 2100 vs 2150 comparison, I’d suggest getting the Epson Home Cinema 2150. Mostly because it has wireless connectivity, which makes things easier.
More importantly, if you’re spending around $1000, I’d suggest getting the Viewsonic PX701 4K projector. It offers native 4K resolution, 3200 lumens brightness, 4.2ms response time, and 240Hz refresh rate.
Hence, it’s a much more value-for-money projector than the Epson 2100 and 2150. It doesn’t have wireless features, but for that, you can use a streaming stick like an Amazon Fire TV stick or Google Chromecast.
